"I could've sued for sexual harassment" - 2x NBA All-Star reveals dark side of Donald Sterling with wild locker room incident
Back in 2014, the NBA community was rocked by the Donald Sterling scandal. At the time, Sterling had been secretly filmed by a woman he was having an affair with. Over the course of the recorded conversation, which was then leaked online, Sterling can be heard making racist comments.
What fans didn't know at the time was that Sterling already had a bad reputation among his players for the way he conducted himself. NBA vet and two-time All-Star Baron Davis recently opened up on how Sterling conducted himself behind the scenes while speaking with four-time NBA champ Draymond Green.
While speaking on a recent episode of The Draymond Green Show, Davis opened up on his experiences with Sterling. Specifically, the two-time NBA All-Star explained that he didn't believe Sterling was necessarily racist, but rather he just simply hated everyone.
In addition, he also recalled a story about a time the former owner walked into the Clippers locker room post-game. Flanked by a number of women, Sterling then began making comments that made Davis uncomfortable.
"He brought some old ass ladies in at the end of one of the games. Like, seven old ass white ladies, right? And he walked into the locker room. He was like, 'Man, you wait for them to get in the shower at any point.' Pointed at me. And he was like, 'Especially him,' like you should.
"And this lady was just sitting, hanging out at my locker, but she just talking, like, where are you from? Oh, you went there, so you wait for me to get up? You know what I mean? Like, it was. It was foul, bro. It was like, I could have sued for sexual harassment."
Looking at how the NBA handled the Donald Sterling scandal
The Donald Sterling scandal was seen as one of the early defining moments of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver's career. With the NBA world rocked by the scandal, the LA Clippers decided to protest against Sterling prior to a playoff game, dropping their team warmups at halfcourt.
Days after the clip of Sterling making racist comments surfaced thanks to TMZ, Adam Silver hit Sterling with a lifetime ban from the league. Despite that, and the $2.5 million fine that was issued to him, his sale of the LA Clippers was a long and drawn-out process.
Fighting the league at every step of the way, the league owners voted to force Sterling to sell the team, with the vote exceeding the majority 75% needed to out him as an owner.
In 2017, after selling the Clippers to renowned billionaire Steve Ballmer, Sterling revealed in an interview with NBC News that despite the slew of negative press that came from the scandal, he was happy.
On the flip side, however, his wife and his attorney took it upon themselves to try and appeal the former owner's lifetime ban, with the league. The duo lost the appeal, with Sterling's lifetime ban still in effect.
