“I cracked my head open" - Heat guard Tyler Herro reveals story behind childhood scar exposed by his latest buzzcut hairstyle
Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro came into the 2024-25 NBA season with a new look, and fans started to notice something. His new hairstyle shows a scar on the left side of his head above his ear. According to Herro, he has had a scar since he was a child.
Herro revealed the scar stemmed from him playing with his friends growing up in Wisconsin.
"I cracked my head open when I was little," Herro said about his scar.
The Heat star was playing football and hit his head in an open door during a play.
"It was playing football in my house," he continued. "It was with my friends... Someone threw a football toward the ground, and I dove for it. And the door was open, and I cracked my head open on the door."
The 24-year-old guard said he was five years old when the accident happened and had to get eight stitches. Unfortunately for the Heat star, he hit the same spot again while playing a different indoor football game.
"Same exact thing. I hit my head on a corner that time."
Fortunately for Herro, he did not suffer a serious injury and eventually took up basketball as his sport. This season, the Heat guard has played like an All-Star, averaging 23.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists. He's also shooting over 40% from deep.
