"I’d love to work with her one day": Caitlin Clark's talent draws admiration from former NBA player

Former NBA player and basketball analyst Rashad McCants is the lastest sports personality to heap praise on Caitlin Clark. The Indiana Fever rookie has taken the league by storm with a string of spectacular outings that have captivated basketball fans around the globe.

After Clark put up a career-high 35 points on Sunday, McCants, who was a star at the University of North Carolina and played 249 NBA games, couldn't help but express his admiration for the 22-year-old sharpshooter.

McCants posted the following message on X (formelry called Twitter) following the game:

"@CaitlinClark22 is just too good! I’d love to work with her one day!!!"

McCants offered to work with the rookie sensation, but at this stage of her career, Clark seems to be progressing just fine on her own. Clark continues to shatter WNBA records in her first season and has developed into one of the most dominant players in the league.

Sunday's performance was one of Clark's best of the year. The Iowa native led the way with 35 points on 10-of-22 shooting and drilled six 3-pointers along the way. She was a perfect 9/9 from the free throw line. Clark also chipped in with eight assists, two rebounds and three steals to guide the Fever to a 110-109 win over the Dallas Wings.

Led by Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, the Fever have qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2016. They have a 20-19 record, and Sunday's win over the Wings means they are set to finish the season with a .500 record or better for the first time in eight years.

After breaking the NCAA's all-time scoring record with the Iowa Hawkeyes last season, there were high expectations for Caitlin Clark when she was drafted.

The first pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft has quelled any doubts about her ability to produce on the professional stage with some high-level performances.

Clark has hit the 30-point barrier on four occasions this season. She first achieved the feat on May 24, recording 30 points against the Las Vegas Aces and followed that up with another 30-point outing against the Washington Mystic two weeks later. On Aug. 30, she logged 31 points against the Chicago Sky.

Sunday's 35-points performance against the Wings was the fourth time Clark has reached 30 points this season and was a career high for her. She leads all WNBA rookies in the category.

Overall, Clark is averaging 19.5 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds over 39 games.
