"I'd rather say I f**ked healthcare" - Mark Cuban gives candid reason on why he's not chasing the USA Presidency
Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban got candid about why he's not interested in running for the President of the United States. Cuban has been linked to the Presidential race over the years, showing support for Donald Trump and Joe Biden at different points.
In a recent appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Cuban was asked if there was ever a time he seriously considered running for office. He admitted that there were some calls for it, but he'd rather spend time with his growing children than run the most powerful country in the world.
"I hate to use the cliche, but the way I was raised. I've got three kids, right? And I don't want to miss that. I don't want to be 95 and look back and say, 'I was President but I didn't get to know my kids at all'. I'd rather say, 'I f**ked healthcare and everybody's healthier, and everybody's got a better world to live in'. And my kids and I are friends. We're close. They bring over the grandkids and the kids' kids, and that's just more important to me," Cuban said.
Mark Cuban and his wife Tiffany Stewart have three children together – Alexis, 21; Alyssa, 17; and Jake, 13. Cuban previously used the same reason to explain why he's not interested in running for President.
He also seems happy to just disrupt the current American healthcare system with his company called Cost Plus Drugs.
With the rising prices of pharmaceutical drugs in the United States, Cuban established Cost Plus Drugs to lessen the burden of the people who can't afford their medicines. His company is focused on lowering the prices of generic drugs by removing middlemen.
Mark Cuban assures Mavericks won't leave Dallas
Mark Cuban sold the majority of the Dallas Mavericks to the Adelson family and the Las Vegas Sands Corp. However, Cuban still owns 27% of the team and remains in charge of basketball operations. But with the Adelsons' purchases, many in Dallas feared that they would relocate the Mavericks to Las Vegas.
The Mavs' lease at the American Airlines Center is also expiring in 2031, plus the Adelsons recently purchased a huge land in Irving, Texas. Despite the signs of a potential relocation, Cuban assured the fans that the Mavericks are staying in Dallas.
"If something crazy happens, you never know, right? But the goal is definitely to stay within the city. ... No one's leaving that, right? The reason we're growing is because people want to be here, and that just makes it so much different than almost any other city," Cuban said. [H/T WFAA]
Cuban purchased the Mavericks for $285 million from Ross Perot Jr. in 2000. He sold 69% of the ownership to the Adelsons for around $3.8 billion.
