"I hope Dallas can see a lot of that": $3,303,771 star makes feelings clear on Anthony Davis' big-time performance in clutch

Spencer Dinwiddie had a front-row seat to teammate Anthony Davis’ clutch performance against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. Davis stood out on defense and scored the go-ahead floater that gave the Dallas Mavericks a hard-fought 120-118 win. Dinwiddie and the Mavericks rejoiced on the court after Davis dragged the team to a well-deserved victory.

After the game, Dinwiddie, who signed a one-year, $3.3 million contract in the offseason, had this to say about Davis:

“That’s who he is. I hope Dallas can see a lot of that. For both the city’s sake and his own. That’s who AD is.”

Dinwiddie added that Davis worked hard to regain his rhythm back after sitting out for weeks due to a groin injury. The point guard, who has been starting for the injured Kyrie Irving, continued that AD had to also adjust to the Mavericks’ style and play calling.

The Mavericks sent Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris to LA in a three-team trade that landed them Anthony Davis. Dallas also received Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick that many called an overwhelming win for the Lakers.

Mavs fans protested the move and called for the resignation of GM Nico Harrison. Franchise legend Dirk Nowitzki expressed his surprise and disappointment and even went to LA to attend Doncic’s debut with the Lakers.

Meanwhile, Davis got off to a sizzling start in his first game in a Mavericks uniform. However, a recurring injury forced him to sit out and caused him to struggle upon his return.

Anthony Davis finally had his big moment for the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. If healthy, he will play a key role for the team as it tries to nail a play-in tournament spot.

Spencer Dinwiddie and Anthony Davis are developing chemistry

Spencer Dinwiddie has taken over the starting point guard role since Kyrie Irving suffered a season-ending injury in early March. In five games with Anthony Davis, the two are developing chemistry that will be invaluable for the Dallas Mavericks.

Against the Atlanta Hawks, Dinwiddie finished the game with 14 points, 10 assists, four rebounds and two steals. Hawks coach Quin Snyder put defensive ace Dyson Daniels on the veteran to limit his impact. Four of Dinwiddie’s passes led to Davis converting shots.

In the play that resulted in the go-ahead floater from Anthony Davis, it was Dinwiddie who set up the crucial sequence with a pass to AD. The Mavericks are firmly in the No. 9 spot in the West. They will need the Davis-Dinwiddie connection to thrive and survive in the pre-playoff format and earn a postseason berth.
