"I didn't join a 73-9 team today," "I didn't request a trade from my team while having a 4-year contract" - Fans ruthlessly criticize Kevin Durant for asking others how they added to their legacy
Talk of Kevin Durant's legacy has become commonplace since his request to be traded from the Brooklyn Nets. Durant is undoubtedly one of the greatest to play the game. He is a two-time NBA champion and Finals MVP and has been named to the All-Star team 12 times.
But Durant's reputation has taken a hit as of late. The superstar left the Golden State Warriors in 2019 and joined the Nets, but has been unable to lead them to postseason success.
As such, his ability to win without being surrounded by superstars has been questioned. Thus, it came as no surprise that he was the target of critics after he posted the following tweet:
"Did u add to your legacy today? If so, what did u do?"
Here are some of the best responses from fans on Twitter:
While the Nets star responded to a few comments, most fans were left hanging.
Kevin Durant garners some attention from the Miami Heat
Kevin Durant recently expressed his desire to be traded to the Phoenix Suns or the Miami Heat. The Nets, however, haven't been able to close a deal for the superstar forward, primarily due to Durant's trade value.
Brooklyn has placed a huge price tag on Durant, who has four years left on his contract. As such, teams have pulled out of negotiations as they do not have the assets to offer Brooklyn in exchange.
Although the Miami Heat are still interested in signing Durant, according to Adrian Wojnarowski, a two-team deal seems unrealistic. The Heat lack the assets required to acquire Durant.
To facilitate the trade, Wojnarowski hinted at the potential involvement of three or four teams, including the Toronto Raptors and the Utah Jazz.
For now, Durant remains with the Nets.
