“I'm on a good pace, I don't like to jinx it” – 3X NBA champion is well-off recovering from ACL injury

One of the surprise moves of the offseason was Danny Green being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies for De'Anthony Melton. This was a good deal for both sides as Philadelphia wanted somebody who could make an impact right away, while Memphis needed outside shooting. Once Green has recovered, he can do exactly that.

As a side gig, Danny Green has now joined the ESPN crew in a part-time analyst role. He said that this is something that he always wanted to do and, when he's done playing, that could be the perfect job for him.

He spoke about his injury, saying he feels good:

"I'm doing great," Green said. "I'm on a good pace. I don't like to jinx it or give too much out there, but it's been going really good. No setbacks. My knee is reacting well."

Having Green be an NBA analyst is a good idea for a few different reasons. The more players that are on TV, typically the better for the fans. Players know more about basketball than people who watch it because they know what players go through on a daily basis.

Other former players have also decided to turn to the analyst role, and Green could be a nice addition to this ESPN crew.

Danny Green is on a good pace to return

Although he isn't ready to return just yet, any positive signs for the Memphis Grizzlies are a good sign. Coming back from an ACL injury, especially at his age (35), is definitely not the easiest thing to do. ACL injuries can ruin careers.

With the way Danny Green plays, however, he doesn't need that much of his athleticism. He's more of a shoote, and although that does also require athleticism, Memphis could put him in a catch-and-shoot role and have him excel in that.

Green spoke about his injury recently:

"My main focus is getting my body back and being healthy and playing as soon as possible," Green said. "While I have the time now, I get a chance to venture out and get some reps in. Surprisingly enough, a lot of people don't realize how much downtime we really have."

What can Danny Green bring to the Grizzlies?

Danny Green was a great addition to the Memphis Grizzlies. He's played in the NBA since 2010 and is a three-time champion. For a young team that has title aspirations, adding a veteran shooter who can also play a role on the court is something that can help them.

Outside of what he can do from a personal standpoint and teach the guys what to do to stay healthy and play a long career, he's a career 39.9% 3-point shooter. Green can come in and hit shots for Memphis when needed. The looks that he could get with Ja Morant are going to be interesting to see as that could be a connection worth watching out for in the future.
