"I talked to Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and other guys": Stephen Curry opens up on taking advice from NFL legends as he celebrates his 35th birthday

On the occasion of his 35th birthday, Golden State Warriors ace Stephen Curry revealed that he spoke to multiple NFL legends seeking advice.

Curry has led the Warriors’ title defense this season in familiar fashion, and is averaging 29.6 points, 6.3 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game. The four-time NBA champion is widely regarded as the best shooter of all time and is vying for his third MVP title.

However, Curry believes he still has a lot in his tank. Speaking to NBA insider Marc Spears, Curry said:

“How I feel right now is not how I thought I’d feel at 35. That number sounds crazy, but in my head, I feel like I got a lot left. The work I put into this I still enjoy. Who knows how (the future) looks? I talked to Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and other guys who have been on the other side of the halfway point.
“I know quarterbacking is different, but you can check yourself (mentally) into not fast-forwarding too far. They really did a good job of disciplining themselves for what is happening in real time. They’re 40 feeling like they can still play. I’m trying to stay in that mode.
"Thirty-five is a big milestone, but the next one is 40. The way I feel right now, who knows?”

Stephen Curry initially wanted to emulate his father

Dell Curry retired in 2002 as Charlotte Hornets’ all-time leader in points and 3-pointers. He played in the NBA for 16 years but had his fair share of injuries as well. Still, with peers such as Chris Paul and LeBron James alongside him, Curry has every chance of playing at a high level for a number of years.

Regardless, Stephen Curry said that his initial aim was to emulate his father:

“My real, but fake, goal was reaching my dad, who played 16 years in the league. But now, you get to this point where you realize that at 16 years, he was 37. I remember the last three years of his career he had a back spasm problem in Milwaukee. I just remember all the work he had to do to play those last three years.
"Times have changed in terms of what your prime is.”

Alongside a fit and firing Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, Curry has every chance of leading the Golden State Warriors (36-33) to another title this season.
