"There's never been another player like him" - 2x NBA champion crowns LeBron James as 'best basketball player' highlighting his statistical takeover
One of the basketball debates with no clear answer would be the "Greatest of All Time" discussion, which usually involves a tug-of-war between LeBron James and Michael Jordan. However, two-time NBA champion Isiah Thomas argued that James' dominance in several statistical categories gives him an edge over the Chicago Bulls legend.
The Lakers star enters his 22nd NBA season in October and turns 40 in December. Despite his age, he continues to defy time with consistent production. James has solidified his body of work as one of the best in league history with an impressive list of accolades.
Taken from an article written by Michigan Local News' Kory Woods, the Detroit Pistons legend's stance on the debate was shared by user NBA Central (@TheDunkCentral) on X:
"He's passed Kareem in scoring," Thomas said. "I think he's got the most playoff points. ... I think he's passed me; I think he's passed Magic on the assist record. ... There's never been another player like him. ... So to me, he's the best that I've ever seen from a team standpoint and also as a basketball player."
Since his NBA debut at age 18, James showcased an unrivaled skill set. He continued improving his craft, which separated him from his peers. His dedication made him the gold standard of basketball versatility.
LBJ's career achievements have cemented him as perhaps the top GOAT comparison to Michael Jordan.
LeBron James also gets Kendrick Perkins' vote in the NBA GOAT debate
Following Team USA's impressive 98-87 win against France in the gold medal game, former Celtics center Kendrick Perkins spoke highly of LeBron James and dubbed him the "GOAT" over Michael Jordan, as per ESPN's Get Up.
"Everything that LeBron James did at this age was a beautiful thing to watch in the Olympics," Perkins said. "He's one up on Jordan right now. He's been my GOAT."
It was an incredible Olympic run for the 20-time NBA All-Star, who played in his final stint with USA Basketball. He helped deliver three Olympic gold medals and one bronze medal to the program, continuing the legacy of the USA's worldwide basketball dominance.
Compared to Michael Jordan's two Olympic gold medals, one from his professional career and the other from his amateur phase, James has been one of the most prominent players in USA Basketball's history.
At this point in his career, what else is left to be said about his greatness? For Kendrick Perkins, there is nothing left.
