"I think he is an idiot": Ben Simmons' agent takes a huge dig at Stephen A. Smith for "prison" take on injury-prone Nets star

Stephen A. Smith turned the spotlight on Ben Simmons again with his comments about the Brooklyn Nets player. The “First Take” host said on “The OGs Show” that Simmons is “lucky he is not in prison” for playing 57 games in three seasons and getting $106.2 million during that span.

Smith said he understood the injuries and the mental health issue but the longtime sports talk show host insisted that Simmons “Don’t love the game.” The “Straight Shooter” author added that “Big Ben” had been “missing games before he was injured.”

In a talk with NetsDaily, Ben Simmons’ agent Bernie Lee had this to say about Stephen A. Smith’s viral quote:

“Quite frankly.. I think Stephen A is an idiot and I only wish he still had his TV show so I could sit in his audience and voice my opinion to him while he attempted to do his job…alas.. it got canceled…”

Smith’s comments were not the first time he blasted Ben Simmons for the same issue. In December last year, when the Australian dealt with a back injury, Smith said this on ESPN:

“I don’t care at this point that he’s injured and the reason why is too much time went by when you were not injured when you were not playing. But you certainly made sure that your check was in your bank account every single month.

The Philadelphia 76ers penalized Ben Simmons for roughly $20 million during the 2021-22 season for sitting out. Simmons forced his way out of Philly, giving Brooklyn wiggle room to get out of their James Harden situation by swapping one for the other. The disgruntled guard, with the help of the NBPA, recouped an undisclosed part of the 76ers’ penalty.

If Bernie Lee wants to talk to Stephen A. Smith, he would have to call the ESPN analyst. He can’t surprise him with a question or comment since “Quite Frankly with Stephen A. Smith went off the air in January 2007.

Stephen A. Smith blasted Ben Simmons for working out in Miami

Stephen A. Smith has criticized Ben Simmons for not working on his game. He ripped the Australian a few times on national TV for not giving back despite the basketball player’s multi-million deal.

During the “The OGs Show” with Udonis Haslem, Smith had this to say when Haslem informed him Simmons has been working out in Miami:

“Really? I’m sure he did work out down here. I’m sure of all the places he could really get focused and zero in on his basketball prowess, he going to pick Miami? Yeah, I’m sure he is down here. His Zoolander a**.”

Stephen A. Smith has long harped about the distractions in Miami. If Ben Simmons is working out there, it could only mean for him that the player isn’t serious about improving his game.
