"I was urinating blood" - Ex-Lakers center analyzes LeBron James' controversial video of popping pills courtside
Former LA Lakers center Kwame Brown broke down the viral clip of LeBron James taking a pill on the sidelines on his YouTube channel on Sunday. Brown talked about the reality of NBA players taking pills while in the middle of the game and said that it was normal around the league.
According to Brown's analysis, James didn't take any harmful pills. According to Brown, he thinks that the All-Star forward took Indomethacin, which he claims is an anti-inflammatory pill.
“If I had to take a guess, this is not what people are thinking it is,” Brown said (Timestamp: 6:36). “I don’t think it has anything to do with no motherf*****g ‘bow cold.’ I don’t think it has anything to do with no steroids. It’s definitely hard on your kidneys and liver."
Brown said in his video that he used to take similar pills during his playing days with the Lakers. However, for the former lottery pick, he suffered a concerning side effect.
“They had my taking that s**t so many times when I played for the Lakers, when I had to have ankle and shoulder surgery, Brown said. "I should’ve shut it down that year and went on ahead and had my surgery.
“But to play, I was taking these pills all the time, so at one point I woke up in so much pain I was urinating blood.”
Brown played for the Lakers from 2005 to 2008, following a trade with the Washington Wizards involving Caron Butler and Chucky Atkins. During his time in Los Angeles, he averaged 7.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
