"I don't wanna talk to you, I wanna talk to my new teammate": Anthony Davis jokingly brushes aside LeBron James, says he is keen to play with Bronny

Anthony Davis will have a front-row seat to history when LeBron James and his son Bronny James put on the same uniform next season. The Jameses are set to become the first father-son duo to play simultaneously. Davis will likely be on the floor when the four-time MVP and the rookie eventually play together.

Leading into this year’s draft, it became clear that James Jr. was going to the LA Lakers. The former Trojan only worked out with the Lakers and the Phoenix Suns. Rich Paul, the agent for both father and son, also reportedly told teams not to draft the younger James.

Anthony Davis shared a hilarious story about LeBron James following Bronny James’ draft:

“I actually called him [Bronny] when he got drafted. I called Bron [because] I don’t have Bronny’s number yet. I called Bron, ‘What’s up man?’ ‘I don’t want to talk to you, I want to talk to my new teammate!’”

Anthony Davis is excited to see more history from LeBron James next season

Anthony Davis has had some incredible moments watching LeBron James pile on the milestones. AD was on the floor when “King James” surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s points leader in February last year. Davis was James’ teammate when the four-time champ played his 20th All-Star Game in 2024 to break another Abdul-Jabbar record.

With more history beckoning for James next season, Davis said he was excited, especially with Bronny James also on board:

“You know, it’s gonna be fun, man. Obviously, that’s a great experience and great for the James family. To be able to have not only a father-son duo in the league at the same time, but to be on the same team. It’s gonna be fun to witness”

The spotlight on the LA Lakers will be even more intense than in past years with LeBron James playing for the same team as his son.

For now, though, the Lakers’ star tandem will focus on Team USA, which is looking to win another Olympic gold medal.
