Insider suggests Heat are interested in pairing Bam Adebayo with Utah Jazz star

Utah Jazz star Lauri Markkanen has become a highly sought-after trade target, having blossomed into a star player with averages of 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists this season.

Markkanen, a former NBA Most Improved Player, has attracted interest from both teams looking to acquire a star and those with championship aspirations, such as the Miami Heat, who reportedly want to build a frontcourt featuring him and Bam Adebayo.

An anonymous NBA general manager suggested in an interview with Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports that Markkanen is the dream target for many teams, including the Heat.

“There are a few teams that, when you look at it, he is going to be their dream target,” the GM said.
“The Lakers, you get a guy like him with Anthony Davis, and that’s perfect for both guys. The Knicks would love to get hold of him. The Heat, again, put him with Bam (Adebayo) and that is the pair you want to build around, you can send Jimmy (Butler) wherever he wants.”

This season, Bam Adebayo averaged 19.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists and appeared in 71 games. He was selected to play in his third All-Star game.

Markkanen is entering the 2024-25 season in the final year of his four-year, $67,470,906 contract.
