“If he wasn't famous & was 31 years old no one would say anything” – John Salley comments on relationship rumors between Larsa Pippen & Marcus Jordan
Larsa Pippen is best known in the NBA world for being married to Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen. However, after 24 years together, the couple split in 2021.
Since her divorce to the Hall of Fame forward, Pippen still manages to pop up in the basketball community. She was first caught up in a scandal with Utah Jazz guard Malik Beasley, and has eyes on her once again for her latest relationship.
Last month, Larsa Pippen was seen on a date with Michael Jordan's oldest son. Given that Scottie and MJ played together, the news was not met with a positive response.
Some fans even took it upon themselves to voice their displeasure on the matter. However, one former NBA player feels this isn't as big a deal as it's being made out to be.
During a recent appearance on VLAD TV, John Salley was asked his thoughts on Larsa Pippen being with Marcus Jordan. He feels the situation is only being met with outrage because of how famous the family is.
"If you're going to be around greatness' son, and greatness' son I'm sure is doing unbelieveable things to keep her afloat physcially, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. Go ahead because if he wasn't famous and was 31-years-old the no one would say anything."
Is John Salley right about Larsa Pippen dating Marcus Jordan?
To an extent, Salley makes valid points in regards to Larsa Pippen dating Marcus Jordan. The main reason why their relationship is getting so much attention is because of the parties involved. If Marcus Jordan wasn't the son of Michael Jordan, most people likely wouldn't care what she is doing.
While Larsa and Jordan do have a 17-year age gap between them, they are still two fully grown adults. Some might think it's excessive, but they are doing nothing wrong.
Salley might feel this way, but people aren't wrong to be displeased with what she is doing. The duo were longtime teammates during their time in Chicago. Even if the two weren't as close as we may thought, dating a child of your ex-husband's former teammate certainly draws some red flags.
The thing with Salley's statement is that people aren't mad about the age gap, it's who the two are that's causing such negative responses. Larsa was likely around Marcus at points while he was young and his father was still playing with Scottie. Being in a relationship with him now as an adult is a bit questionable.
