"Imagine if Kobe was his teammate"- NBA fans react to Jared McCain catching Kyle Lowry off-guard in hilarious TikTok
Jared McCain has quickly made a name for himself in the league with his incredible performances for an undermanned Philadelphia 76ers squad. The rookie also has a hobby of making trendy videos, and after Wednesday's 110-104 win against the Charlotte Hornets in an away game, he involved point guard Kyle Lowry in the mix.
McCain is a big star on TikTok, with about 4.3 million followers. Postgame, he recorded a video of himself lip-syncing and vibing to Drake's song "Rich Baby Daddy". As McCain matched the lyrics with his movements, he panned the camera toward Lowry sitting beside him with a confused look on his face.
NBA Central shared the TikTok video on X, formerly Twitter, and fans flooded the comments section. Looking at Lowry's reaction, one fan posed the question of what would've happened if Kobe Bryant was in the same situation.
"Imagine if Kobe was his teammate.. immediate trade request."
Other fans joined the bandwagon and expressed similar sentiments.
"Kobe woulda smack da sht out of his phone," another fan said.
"Hahahah! Imagine if that was Kobe😂i wonder how he would react," a fan wrote.
"Looks like a boomer father trying to bond with his gen z son lol," another fan said.
Other fans kept the jokes coming in the comment section of Jared McCain's video.
"He should make Kyle Lowry twerk, no diddy."
"Thought Lowry was about to jump out of the seat and start throwing that voluptuous a**," another fan said.
The 76ers are not in the greatest position in the Eastern Conference. They have a dismal 5-14 record and are sitting at 14th in the standings.
Jared McCain delivers off the bench while Kyle Lowry struggles after his return
Jared McCain took the helm for the Philadelphia 76ers while core players on the roster were sidelined with injuries. However, now that Tyrese Maxey and Paul George are back, McCain found himself on the bench on Tuesday night against the Hornets.
The 76ers started strong, establishing a 12-point lead in the first quarter, but a LaMelo Ball-less Hornets team stayed close for the rest of the game.
Jared McCain offered instant offense from the bench, netting 17 points, along with two assists and two steals.
However, the night was not great for Kyle Lowry, who had returned from a hip strain injury. Lowry played 13 minutes, ending the night scoreless. He attempted one shot from the field and one from deep, missing both, but he did collect three rebounds. Lowry's showing suggested that he still needs more time to find his groove back after the injury.
