Taking a day off from training isn't in Anthony Edwards' playbook. The Minnesota Timberwolves star, who won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, is now back in the gym training in his new 'Gold Medal' Adidas AE1 shoes.

In a recent post by Bleacher Report Kicks on Instagram, the Team USA star was seen taking shots in the gym. It wasn't just Edwards' shoes that were worth noticing. The Timberwolves' young star was also seen rocking a Michael Jordan Six Titles t-shirt.

According to Bleacher Report, the 'Gold Medal' Adidas AE1 shoes were gifted to Edwards by the company. The shoe design follows that of previous AE1 models, with the toe featuring a white color that extends to the sole.

However, a larger part of the upper showcases the gold color, in dedication to Team USA's success at the Paris Olympics. The eyelets of the 'Gold Medal' Adidas AE1 feature black color, which has been a common color in most AE1 colorways.

According to USA Today, the newest version of the Adidas AE1 was revealed by the brand in Paris at Westfield Forum Des Halles.

Noah Lyles refuses to participate in Anthony Edwards' shoe launch event

Noah Lyles is an Olympic gold medalist, so it's understandable that any company would want him to promote their brand. However, for the 100 m Olympic champion, compromising on the stature he has worked hard for is not an option.

Lyles is one of the biggest faces of Adidas. Earlier in June this year, he mentioned that when he was about to sign an extension with the brand in 2023, they invited him to Anthony Edwards' shoe launch, which he felt was disrespectful.

In an interview with Time, Lyles said that while Anthony Edwards was an "amazing athlete", he hadn't accomplished anything major in his career. He wanted the company to treat him at least on the same level as Edwards.

"You want to do what?" said Lyles (per Times Magazine). "You want to invite me to [an event for] a man who has not even been to an NBA Finals? In a sport that you don’t even care about? And you’re giving him a shoe?"
"No disrespect: the man is an amazing athlete. He is having a heck of a year. I love that they saw the insight to give him a shoe because they saw that he was going to be big. All I’m asking is, 'How could you not see that for me?'"

Lyles wasn't present at the event when Edwards and Adidas launched the "Gold Medal" Adidas AE1. Although Lyles signed a lucrative contract with the sneaker brand, he doesn't have his own signature shoe. After his gold medal win at the Paris Olympics, Lyles reiterated his desire for his own signature sneaker.
