Ahead of his potential redemption season, Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant is set to release his latest signature shoe colorway, the Nike Ja 1 "Flash."
One of the NBA's most popular young stars, Morant's 2023-24 season was derailed due to a gun-related suspension and subsequent season-ending right shoulder injury. However, after being cleared for basketball activities on July 9, the high-flying, athletic guard appears poised to return to form next season.
The Nike Ja 1 "Flash" will be released on Aug. 1, just under three months before the start of Morant's sixth NBA campaign. The new colorway of his first signature shoe model combines performance-driven attributes with a sleek design.
Per Nice Kicks, the shoe features a whitish-gray upper with a gray heal counter and synthetic overlays, offering support and breathability for on-court movements. Meanwhile, it has a multi-colored sole, transitioning from mint green to yellow.
The Nike Ja 1 "Flash" will be available via Nike.com and select retailers at a price point of $120.
In addition to his latest Nike Ja 1 colorway, Morant will release the Nike Ja 2 "Stargazer" in October, giving his fans plenty to look forward to.
Ja Morant "75%" healthy ahead of sixth season and upcoming shoe releases
Ahead of his highly anticipated return and upcoming shoe releases, Ja Morant recently updated his status.
On Thursday, WPSD Local 6's Adam Wells asked Morant how he was feeling health-wise ahead of next season. The two-time All-Star noted that he is ready to play but is still working his way 100% back into game shape. Nonetheless, he cautioned the rest of the NBA about his imminent return.
"I’m really fully [ready] to go, it’s just building endurance now," Morant said. "So, if I had to pick a number, I'd say probably 75%, and I feel like that's still scary for whoever's in front of me."
Wells then quipped that Morant wasn't "12 out of 10 yet," to which the Grizzlies star said that "come October" he "will be."
Ja Morant only appeared in nine games this past season due to his suspension and right shoulder injury. Nevertheless, he performed at an elite level, averaging 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 8.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.6 3-pointers per game, shooting 47.1%.
Amid Morant and the rest of Memphis' injury-plagued season, the franchise finished only 13th (27-55) in the Western Conference. However, as it approaches full strength, the squad will look to return to contending in the competitive West.
In the 2022-23 season, the Morant-led Grizzlies finished second (51-31) in the conference, establishing themselves as one of the league's premier young teams.
