In Photos: Former teammates Karl-Anthony Towns & Anthony Edwards reunite during Timberwolves vs Knicks game at MSG
New York Knicks big man Karl-Anthony Towns has nothing but love for his former Minnesota Timberwolves teammates as they faced off in a preseason game Sunday. Towns reunited with his old teammates, including All-Star Anthony Edwards, at Madison Square Garden.
Before the preseason games started, KAT was traded to the Knicks for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo.
The shooting big man didn't forget his former coach, Chris Finch. The two shook hands before the game started.
Tonight is their first game against each other since the trade was finalized.
Karl-Anthony Towns was all smiles after seeing his former team
Karl-Anthony Towns may be playing for a different team this season, but he's still good friends with the players in Minnesota. Before the game started, the four-time All-Star greeted Mike Conley, Rudy Gobert and Edwards.
DiVincenzo, who played for the Knicks last season, hugged and greeted his former teammates. He went up to Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, who played with DiVincenzo in college at Villanova. Big man Precious Achiuwa also approached the guard to greet him before the game.
Edwards and Towns hugged before the game and had a small chat.
The Timberwolves and the Knicks' first meeting in the regular season will be on Dec. 19 at Target Center. That will be the first time KAT will play on Minnesota since the trade.
Their second and final regular season matchup will be on Jan. 17 at MSG.
Former players for each franchise showed off in the first period
After the first quarter, fans saw glimpses of what the Towns and DiVincenzo could do for their new teams. The big man played 11 minutes and finished the quarter with four points and five rebounds. At the moment, KAT plays the center position since Mitchell Robinson is recovering from his injury.
DiVincenzo, on the other hand, started the game and didn't waste any time to show off his chemistry with the Wolves. He played nine minutes and had nine points and two rebounds.
