In Photos: Kyrie Irving's Anta 1 'Kaileidoscope' colorway signature shoe unveiled
Kyrie Irving already experienced new beginnings with the Dallas Mavericks and proved that he could be the perfect running mate for Luka Doncic. The 2016 NBA champion is set to have a fresh start off the court, with his brand-new signature shoe ANTA KAI 1 'KAI-LEIDOSCOPE' being released one week from now on Aug. 31.
ANTA Sports posted on Instagram to announce the news and share some pictures of the black, white, blue and red shoes.
"Inspired by Kyrie’s offensive kaleidoscope— a mesmerizing blend of dribble moves, footwork, and finishing abilities— the ANTA KAI 1 KAI-LEIDOSCOPE is designed to reflect the dazzling and ever-changing nature of Kyrie’s game. Built for the entire family, in both adult and kid’s sizes," part of the caption read.
After a tumultuous exit from Nike when he infamously shared a link to an antisemitic movie, Irving was one of the most sought-after free agents in the sneaker world. ANTA ended up inking a deal with the star point guard and started putting out signature shoes in March.
As controversial and polarizing as he's been, Kyrie Irving remains a popular player. His Nike shoes were a big hit and ANTA hopes to replicate that.
Meanwhile, the veteran is getting ready for a new season with renewed hopes, as the Dallas Mavericks added Klay Thompson in the offseason.
Jason Kidd discusses Kyrie Irving's role in Klay Thompson's signing
Besides helping Luka Doncic reach the NBA finals for the first time in his career, Kyrie Irving helped the Dallas Mavericks secure one of the most important signings of the offseason. Speaking on NBC Sports Bay Area's "Dubs Talk," Jason Kidd said Irving played a key role in bringing in Klay Thompson to Dallas.
"It was a lot of people that were involved in [Klay Thompson's recruitment]," Kidd said. "But one of the biggest players in that was Ky [Kyrie Irving]. They all talk about their situations, and they all recruit one another — this was about Ky and Klay being able to talk."
Doncic, Irving and Thompson could be one of the best trios in the West. If they can replicate what they did last season and Thompson becomes a solid third-scoring option, the Mavericks will pose a serious threat to the rest of the association.
