In Photos: LeBron James, Kevin Durant & other Team USA players' sneakers worn during Olympic basketball game vs Serbia
Team USA's men's basketball team beat Serbia 110-84 in their opening game under the leadership of LeBron James and Kevin Durant on Sunday. LeBron and Durant led the team in scoring with 21 and 23 points, respectively, and they did so in style.
LeBron and KD wore flashy kicks that stood out from the other sneakers. LeBron wore his upcoming LeBron 22s while Durant sported his latest signature sneaker, the KD 17s. Aside from these two veteran superstars, their teammates donned eye-catching kicks.
Here are some of the shoes that the Team USA basketball squad wore against Serbia, as posted by Nick DePaula on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The LeBron 22s are set to release later this year. While a release date has not been confirmed, it is expected to drop in September, the same month the LeBron 21 dropped its initial designs last year.
The colorway that LeBron James wore against Serbia is aptly called 'USA', which is reflected in its blue, white and red palette. Currently, it is listed as a 'Player Edition' or a PE, which means this particular colorway might not be available to fans when the sneaker releases.
Meanwhile, KD's shoes follow a similar theme to LeBron's. They reflect pride in representing their nation through their color scheme. However, this specific colorway doesn't appear to be a part of the ones releasing this coming August.
Additionally, the KD 17s already have a 'USA' colorway, predominantly white, except for the blue undersole and red accents. This indicates that the shoes KD wore against Serbia have a different name and are likely a PE variant.
LeBron James wasn't the only player to don a pair of LeBron 22s at the Olympics
LeBron James' upcoming signature shoe has yet to be released. However, USA Women's Basketball star A'ja Wilson already owns one.
However, Wilson wasn't just wearing a pair with the same design as LeBron's. Her LeBron 22s were mostly white except for the heel, outer and midsole, which are red. There also appears to be some blue stitching on the heel counter area.
Just like LeBron, Wilson is already an Olympic Gold medalist. She won the gold medal at the 2020 Olympics and is looking to make it two this year.
Aside from her success in international competition, Wilson is also considered a powerhouse in the WNBA. She already has two league MVPs and two DPOYs and is already a two-time champion with the Las Vegas Aces.
