In Photos: Luka Doncic's mother Mirjam Poterbin goes sightseeing in Boston amid NBA Finals
Luka Doncic’s mother, Mirjam Poterbin, has been supporting her son in the first NBA Finals appearance of his career. Poterbin has been a staple at the American Airlines Center in Dallas for the playoffs and some marquee games in the regular season, joining the Mavericks’ crowd, which usually gets rowdy every time Doncic takes over for the team.
On Monday, Poterbin went around Boston prior to Game 5 of the NBA Finals to go sightseeing in some of the city’s buildings.
“#Bostoncity #sightseeing # NBAFinals #game5 #supportingmyson🏀🥰,” she said in her post.
Some of the sights she featured were two churches and a residential building in downtown Boston.
However, Poterbin’s support inside the arena did not result in a Dallas win in Game 5, conceding the NBA championship to the Boston Celtics, 106-88. Doncic led the way for the Mavericks with 28 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and three steals in the series finale.
Doncic did not receive much help on the offensive end from the other Mavericks, as co-star Kyrie Irving only had 15 points on 5-of-16 shooting from the field. As they struggled, Boston took control from start to finish, building a 21-point lead at halftime and never looking back from there.
The 50-year-old mother is a hair stylist in her own salon and was Doncic’s manager during his early days at Real Madrid.
She holds custody of Doncic after divorcing his father, Sasa Doncic, a former basketball player who has also been a mainstay at Dallas Mavericks games. Poterbin moved to the United States when Doncic was drafted in 2018.
Luka Doncic’s mother, Mirjam, goes viral for NBA Finals outfit
Luka Doncic’s mother made an impression on fans in Game 3 of the NBA Finals after posting photos of her at the American Airlines Center courtside, wearing washed skinny jeans and a white sleeveless top.
The post garnered 3,500 likes and comments were flooded with praise for her good looks, fitting for the championship series.
Aside from being the mother of Luka, Mirjam also worked as a host on a Slovenian reality TV show.
Doncic impressed in his first NBA finals trip, averaging 29.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 2.6 steals. However, he was often targeted on defense as the Celtics’ offensive players hunted for him on screening actions, making him a liability on the defensive end.
Doncic, nonetheless, shot 47% from the field on 25 attempts per game, but the Dallas superstar struggled from long range, shooting only 24% from three on nine tries per game.
