Michael Jordan talked about talking trash to basketball fans

Michael Jordan wasn't just a competitor in basketball, he was also a showman on the court. He gave the fans more than just a spectacular highlight reel on a nightly basis, as he confidently gave them electric entertainment that was more than they paid for.

The Bulls star shared his mindset around talking trash toward fans during games, as per Basketball Network's Damian Peters.

"I think the fans should be involved in it," Jordan said. "They are here to see the game, they are here to see the entertainment, and if you don't talk to them, it seems you are isolated from them. I like talking back to them. Magic does it, and it's a part of the game. It shows you are enjoying the game so much you don't feel the game is such a business ..."

His competitors dealt with his smack talk endlessly, as Jordan didn't shy away from getting into their heads and instilling his dominance in any way possible. Basketball fans who were rooting against him weren't safe from this kind of exchange, as the NBA legend highlighted the excitement factor in letting them be part of the experience.

He argued that doing such a thing strengthens the position of professional athletes as more than just players but as entertainers.

In the 15 seasons he played in the league, Michael Jordan has a career average of 30.1 points (49.7 percent shooting, including 32.7 percent from 3-point range), 6.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
