In Photos: Paul George enjoys downtime with wife Daniela at tropical resort getaway in Cabo San Lucas amid trade rumors
LA Clippers star Paul George is entering the 2024 NBA free agency as one of the best players available on the free market unless the Clippers secure his services. The veteran swingman has been with the team since 2019, creating a notable tandem with Kawhi Leonard and then superteaming with Russell Westbrook and James Harden.
PG13 is reportedly on his way to the Clippers, given the lack of urgency they've shown to retain the player. Meanwhile, George is spending a nice vacation with his wife, who shared pictures showing the couple's whereabouts this offseason.
Daniela Rajic posted some stories from Cabo San Lucas, including one where George appears smiling and seemingly having some drinks.
George appears to be having a nice time with his family and friends. Free agency is about to start and while fans are paying close attention to what happens around the league, the main characters are taking time to unwind, take a back seat and see what's next for them in the NBA.
NBA insider says Paul George could be traded this weekend
Rumors about Paul George have been swirling around since the end of the 2023–24 NBA season. The Clippers are reportedly focused on keeping James Harden as part of their core, and after securing Kawhi Leonard and Tyronn Lue's services, there might be enough space for George in the squad.
ESPN insider Brian Windhorst reported earlier this week that the former Indiana Pacer could be traded this weekend.
"He could opt into his contract and get traded by this weekend," Windhorst said. "That is something that is going to come to a head in the next day or two if he wants to go with that option because, obviously, you'd have to negotiate a trade, and then a team wouldn't necessarily need salary cap space," he added.
Windhorst adds that a potential George move would have big ramifications within the NBA.
"So, the Paul George sweepstakes is gonna come to a head—at least that aspect of it—faster than those other players who are gonna be free agents like Klay Thompson and DeMar DeRozan," Windhorst said. "So, Paul George has a different menu of options, and we're gonna see some action in that, probably coming up very quickly after the draft."
The Clippers are still hungry to win that elusive NBA championship. However, to do so, they could make some hard decisions this offseason.
