Steph Curry will make his Olympic debut when Team USA takes the floor in the 2024 Paris Games next month. It will be his first national team stint since 2014, a year before he won the first of his four NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors.
On Sunday, Curry marked his first practice with the Olympic-bound Team USA. While wearing his No. 4 jersey, he also debuted his 12th signature shoe, inspired by Team USA and the Olympic games.
Take a look at the former NBA MVP’s Curry 12 sneakers:
The shoe has a “Team USA” and “Olympic” colorway, which enhances the sneakers’ silhouette. The design also seems different from his previous signature sneakers.
Based on online snaps, Curry’s 12th signature shoes have two colorways: one with colorways of predominantly dark blue, red and white, and mainly white. The sneakers seem to be low-cut with Under Armour's patented “Flow” cushioning technology. The Curry logo is at the midsole near the heel and on the tongue of the shoe.
Under Amour, Steph Curry’s longtime shoe brand, is yet to release the technical specs of the shoes, their official prices and release date. However, the sneakers are expected to be officially announced in August, shortly after the Olympic Games wrap up.
Being the only Under Armour athlete in the 12-man Team USA roster, Curry is expected to wear these shoes in practice and in the Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Curry will be one of the stars in a superstar-packed Team USA that features former NBA champions LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Jrue Holiday, Jayson Tatum and Anthony Davis.
Rounding out the team are Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Joel Embiid, Devin Booker and Bam Adebayo. Team USA is coached by Curry’s longtime mentor Steve Kerr.
Steve Kerr provides update on Steph Curry’s injury scare in Team USA practice
Team USA kicked off their preparation for the Olympic Games in Las Vegas. During their first day of practice, Steph Curry had an injury scare.
According to Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area, he was seen nursing his right hand after scrimmage. He seemed to be bothered by it during the rest of the practice.
Curry got his hand checked by the team’s medical staff.
Team USA and Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr gave an update about Curry’s injury after the practice. In a follow-up report by Johnson, Kerr said that there's nothing to be worried about.
The encouraging news alleviated early concerns about Steph Curry’s return to the national team. He won FIBA World Cup gold medals in 2010 and 2014 before going on to win four NBA championships in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022.
