Team USA made a ferocious rally in the fourth quarter to avert a massive upset at the hands of Serbia. They won 95-91, leaving Travis Scott, Carmelo Anthony, and the rest of those who witnessed the game with a grand time.
The Americans will play host France in the finals of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games men's basketball tournament on Aug. 11.
Carmelo Anthony remains invested in Team USA
Carmelo Anthony was last part of Team USA in 2016, where he won his third straight Olympic gold medal in Rio, Brazil. But he has remained invested in the affairs of the squad even to this date.
In the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympic Games, 'Melo' is in the French capital to give his support to the U.S. squad as it tries to win a fifth straight gold medal. And he is not just a mere spectator, using his platform to communicate with the players to give them motivation and support.
LeBron James attested to the steady support of Carmelo Anthony to the team, sharing a message he got ahead of their game against Serbia from his close friend and former Olympic teammate in an Instagram story.
'The King' wrote in his post:
"You said 'Gotta get it done the hard way.' I heard you loud and clear my brother."
Carmelo Anthony played in four Olympic Games for the United States, winning gold medals in 2008 (Beijing), 2012 (London) and 2016 (Rio) and a bronze in 2004 (Greece).
Throughout his tours of duty, the former Syracuse star averaged 10.8 points, four rebounds and assists in 17 minutes of play in 31 games.
In May last year, Anthony announced his retirement from the NBA after an illustrious career spanning 19 years, with stops in Denver, New York, OKC Thunder, Houston, Portland and the LA Lakers.
He was a 10-time All-Star and six-time All-NBA Team member. Anthony was part of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team with 28,289 total points, currently 10th on the all-time list.
