In Photos: Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady catch Buffalo Bills action & take snaps with NFL stars in New York
“Bills Ownership Guest” was on the tags Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady had around their necks when they appeared at Highmark Stadium in New York. The two former NBA stars were the Buffalo Bills’ guests for the team’s matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jozy Altidore, formerly of Toronto FC, came with the Toronto Raptors legends.
While still in the tunnel, Bills quarterback Josh Allen shared a brief hug with Carter and McGrady. Once the two entered the field, Buffalo fans, known as the “Bills Mafia” gave the guests a warm welcome. The former Raptors superstars met with some players, including Super Bowl L winner Von Miller.
The Toronto-Buffalo connection was heavily emphasized on Monday night behind the appearance of former Toronto greats. Vince Carter, “known as Air Canada,” put the Raptors on the basketball map. “Vinsanity” will be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame next month. The Raptors already announced they will be retiring No. 15 against the Miami Heat in late January.
Tracy McGrady played only three seasons with the Raptors (1997-1998 to 1999-00) but was a budding All-Star. He and Carter made the team a walking highlight reel team. McGrady made it to the Hall of Fame in 2017 after incredible stints with the Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets.
Jozy Altidore is a well-known figure in the Canadian soccer world. He scored a staggering 62 goals for Toronto FC in just 139 games.
The Buffalo Bills put on a show for Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady and Jozy Altidore
The Buffalo Bills seemingly did not want to disappoint their guests and put on a show against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady and Jozy Altidore watched Josh Allen carve the Jaguars defense for 37 points before the third quarter ended. The quarterback went 23/30 passes that resulted in 263 yards with four touchdowns. Allen added 44 yards more on six carries.
The defense also shone for the Jaguars behind two sacks by AJ Epenesa and Ja’Marcus Ingram. Damar Hamlin had one interception that turned into 19 yards for the defense. Dorian Williams was a tackling machine in the first three quarters, totaling nine, including six solos. Buffalo limited Jacksonville’s offense to three first-half points.
The Buffalo Bills are cruising to victory as they kept a 37-10 lead with a quarter left to play, as of writing.
