In Pics: Candice Patton welcomes newborn with JR Smith after estranged wife exposed their relationship on IG earlier
Former NBA player JR Smith welcomed his newborn son with actress Candice Patton. She uploaded a video and three pictures of the infant on her account with a caption, expressing her feelings.
"Son in Virgo, Born at home, Heart now beats outside of my chest, In love forevermore," Patton wrote.
The video featured on Patton's post showed the tiny feet of her newborn baby as he moved them a little. In the first image following the video, the baby was snapped resting beside his mother. In the second picture, Smith holds the child in his arms.
JR Smith posted five pictures of the infant on his account and covered the face of the child in every picture.
The relationship between Candice Patton and JR Smith is a complicated one, given his relationship with his estranged wife Shirley "Jewel" Smith, mother of his two daughters.
A few years back in 2019, Harris accused Smith of cheating on her with the actress. According to the Revolt, the former Cavs star's wife recited a prayer on her Instagram story and asked God to set her husband and Patton straight.
“My husband, he’s hurting and Candice, she’s hurting … For her to go out here, Father God, and seek a married man, I just pray that you give her grace and mercy through all of this,” she said.
In response to her actions, Smith issued a statement on his Instagram.
“IG ain’t a place for relationships!! But God told me to tell y’all I’ve been separated for months. He doesn’t understand why his child failed to mention that… #thatsall,” Smith said.
JR Smith shares video involving daughters as life update to fans
JR Smith posted a video montage to give his 7.8 million followers an insight into his life. The video starts with a picture of his youngest daughter and transitions into a montage format featuring multiple pictures of his daughters and moments from their daily activities.
"Life Lately!" Smith wrote in the caption.
Smith and Shirley "Jewel" Harris tied the knot in August 2016. Their daughter, Dakota, was born five months prematurely in Jan. 2017. The baby weighed a mere pound and had to be kept in the NICU. The couple overcame the hurdle and Dakota is a healthy child now.
