Is Andrew Wiggins playing tonight against the Nuggets? Latest update on the Warriors forward ahead of matchup (April 2, 2023)
Andrew Wiggins last played for the Golden State Warriors on February 13. The Warriors beat the Washington Wizards 135-126. Wiggins helped secure the win by dropping 29 points on 54.5% shooting, seven rebounds, and four assists.
Since then, Wiggins has not returned to the court due to personal family matters.
Later tonight, the Denver Nuggets (51-26) host the Golden State Warriors (41-37) at the Ball Arena in a pivotal game for the Warriors as they try to secure enough wins before the regular season ends. The Warriors are fifth in the Western Conference standings with only four games remaining in the season.
Unfortunately, Steph Curry and the Warriors will, yet again, be without the services of their All-Star wing in Wiggins. With a 9-29 record on the road, the Warriors need to secure this matchup. It will bode well for them in the standings as the Los Angeles Clippers, the New Orleans Pelicans, and the LA Lakers all trail from behind with 38 losses.
Andrew Wiggins' season so far
Wiggins, a one-time All-Star, averaged 17.1 points on 47.3% shooting, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists before being sidelined due to personal family matters.
Alongside Draymond Green, he was another great defender in the Golden State Warriors' rotation. He helped hold down the defensive end of the team throughout the season's struggles.
On March 31, Steve Kerr gave an encouraging update on Wiggins, as reported by Brad Botkin from USA Today. Kerr mentioned that Andrew Wiggins has been working out on a "daily basis." He went on to say that the organization has not closed the door on the possibility of him returning.
"Once he's back," Kerr said, "our training staff will get with him and see where he is [physically]."
