Is Brandin Podziemski playing tonight against Phoenix Suns? Latest on Warriors guard's status for Summer League game (July 13)
Brandin Podziemski is the headline name on the Golden State Warriors roster for the NBA's Summer League tournament in Las Vegas.
The 6-foot-4 guard did not feature in the Warriors' first two games, but made an appearance in the team's win over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. Podziemski is on the roster and will suit up to play against the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night.
It has been a busy few months for Podziemski, who played in the Warriors' 118-94 play-in loss on April 17 that eliminated the team from playoff contention.
The 21-year-old was also named to the USA select team to train alongside the USA Men's National team prior to the Olympics. Podziemski is now back with Golden State and will be looking to play a major role in Las Vegas.
Brandin Podziemski played 29 minutes during Golden State's slender 91-90 win over the Kings at the Chase Center on July 10. He racked up 15 points on 4-13 shooting and recorded 4 assists and 2 rebounds.
Golden State has won all three of their Summer League games, with dominant wins over the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers. That was followed by a tightly-contested battle against the Sacramento Kings.
They will look to continue their fine form this week when they face the Suns, Chicago Bulls (July 14) and Cleveland Cavaliers (July 17).
The game between the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns will take place in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center and is set to tip off at 11:00 p.m. EST (8 p.m. PST).
Warriors rising star Brandin Podziemski impressed in his first season with Golden State
Brandin Podziemski was a standout player at the University of Santa Clara, a school that is less than 50 miles away from where the Golden State Warriors play. The sharpshooter would have been ecstatic when his name was called up by the organization for the 19th overall pick in the 2023 draft.
Podziemski made an immediate impact with the franchise, featuring in 74 games and averaging 26.6 minutes per game last year. He eventually took the starting position of legendary Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson, and started 28 total games.
After a strong season where he averaged 9.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists, the Wisconsin native was rewarded for his hard work by being named to the NBA's All-Rookie First Team.
