Is Damian Lillard playing tonight against Thunder? Latest on Bucks point guard's availability for Emirates NBA Cup Final (Dec. 17)
Damian Lillard will play in the NBA Cup Final between the Milwaukee Bucks and OKC Thunder on Tuesday. The Bucks' star point guard was listed as "probable" on the injury report due to a right calf contusion. Head coach Doc Rivers confirmed that Lillard skipped the team’s practice session on Monday as a precautionary measure.
Lillard later assured fans that he would suit up for the highly anticipated final, explaining that he experienced slight irritation in his calf during the semifinal matchup against the Atlanta Hawks.
"The second quarter of the game against Atlanta, I just kind of irritated it a little bit. So, it was just some discomfort," Lillard told reporters.
"When I have something with my calf, sometimes I start panicking, but I knew it wasn't nothing serious, just a little irritation. So I've just been doing treatment and doing all the stuff to get ahead of it to get ready for tomorrow."
Damian Lillard logged heavy minutes against the Hawks and was instrumental in the Bucks' 110-102 victory. The former Portland Trail Blazers star delivered an impactful performance, finishing with 25 points, six rebounds, seven assists and three steals in 37 minutes. The veteran point guard shot 8 of 21 from the field, including 5 of 14 from beyond the arc.
