Is Dereck Lively II playing tonight against Kings? Latest on Mavericks center's availability (Dec. 30)
The Dallas Mavericks will square off against the Sacramento Kings on Monday, but the availability of their young center, Dereck Lively II, remains uncertain. Lively is listed as "questionable" on the team's injury report due to a left hip contusion, which has kept him sidelined for the Mavericks' last two games.
Lively last took the court during Dallas' 105-99 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Christmas Day. The former Duke standout logged 30 minutes and made a significant impact on both ends of the floor with his well-rounded performance.
He scored six points on 3 of 7 shooting, while opting not to take any attempts from beyond the arc. Lively was particularly impressive on the boards, grabbing 10 rebounds and added three assists, one steal and two blocks to his stat line.
Dereck Lively II has already missed several games this season, appearing in 25 of the Mavericks' 32 matchups so far. The young center is averaging 8.7 points on an impressive 69.8% shooting from the field, along with 7.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.6 blocks per game.
In addition to Lively, three other players are listed on Dallas' injury report. Franchise star Luka Doncic has been ruled out due to a left calf strain, while Dante Exum (recovering from right wrist surgery) and Naji Marshall (suspension) will also remain unavailable.
