Is Jamal Murray playing tonight against Dallas Mavericks? Latest injury update on Nuggets superstar (Jan. 12)

A left knee inflammation earlier saw Jamal Murray as a doubtful starter for the Denver Nuggets when they take on the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center on Sunday. However Murray will play for Nuggets after being listed as questionable arlier Denver looks to build on the two-game win streak. Murray has already missed six games this season.

The Canadian guard suited up for the Nuggets in their last game against the Brooklyn Nets and played just 16 minutes as he dealt with left knee soreness. He ended his evening with seven points and three assists. Other notable names like Nikola Jokic (illness) and Aaron Gordon (right calf strain) are also cleared to play after being listed as questionable.

Jamal Murray weighed in on the difference between running the two-man game with Nikola Jokic and DeAndre Jordan

Earlier, Jamal Murray spoke of the key difference between running the two-man game with teammates Nikola Jokic and DeAndre Jordan with the latter embracing his reserve role with the Nuggets. With the side missing out on Jokic for a few games, Jordan filled in for him, and per DNVR Nuggets had a cheeky response when asked between running the two-man contest.

"Well when I'm with DJ I'm keeping [the ball],” Murray said. “Nah, I'll get him when he's running to the rim. Just a different look I'm looking for, a different read I'm looking for.
"With Jokic, just more reading the coverage and what they're gonna do, whereas with DJ I'm looking to get in the area where they can't guard everybody. Can't guard me or DJ or the single side guy. So, just different mindset. Reading two different things when those guys are on the court."

While the guard has not been propping up meteoric numbers this season, he continues to play a key role in the Nuggets holding on to the fourth spot in the West. He averages 19.0 points and 6.2 assists per game and has been a solid second option to Jokic, who has been dishing out video game numbers. Only time will tell if the think-tank determines Jamal Murray fit for Sunday's matchup.
