Is Jared McCain playing tonight against Hornets? Latest on 76ers rookie's availability (Dec. 16)

Jared McCain has been ruled out for the Philadelphia 76ers' game against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday. The rookie guard is out indefinitely after experiencing soreness in his left knee following the Sixers' 107-121 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday.

In a disappointing update for Philadelphia fans, the team announced that an MRI revealed a lateral meniscus tear in McCain’s left knee, sidelining the promising young talent.

"Jared McCain reported left knee soreness following last night’s game vs. Indiana," the Sixers said in a tweet. "An MRI today revealed a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee. The injury will require surgery and he is out indefinitely."

Jared McCain played 29 minutes off the bench during the Sixers' game against the Pacers but struggled to make an impact. He finished with five points, one rebound and three assists, shooting 2 of 6 from the field, including 1 of 2 from beyond the arc.

McCain's injury is a significant setback for Philadelphia as the rookie had been off to an impressive start in his professional career. The former Duke standout had quickly earned a spot in the hearts of Sixers fans with his consistent standout performances.

Through 23 games, McCain was averaging 15.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting an efficient 46.0% from the field, including 38.3% from beyond the arc. His injury marks a tough loss for a team that had come to rely on his dynamic play.
