Is Jaylon Tyson playing tonight? A look at Cavaliers' rookie's availability ahead of Summer League game vs Pacers

The NBA Summer League offers rookies the opportunity to showcase their talents and Jaylon Tyson has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. The Cleveland Cavaliers forward has impressed during his first four games, showing off his versatility and maturity. Tyson will once again suit up for the Cavaliers' matchup against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday.

The Cleveland Cavaliers first-round pick has started all four games so far during the Summer League, averaging a total of 25.25 minutes per game.

Despite a disappointing 106-79 loss against the Orlando Magic in their first game, Tyson was the Cavs' standout player on the night. He finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists and shot 50% from the field.

Tyson followed that up with another energetic performance, recording 14 points and seven rebounds against the Milwaukee Bucks on July 14.

On an off night, the 6-foot-7 forward scored just four points in a loss to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.

On Friday, Tyson bounced back with a memorable outing against the Los Angeles Lakers to prove his poor shooting night versus the Warriors was a one-off. The Texas native was just one assist shy of logging a triple-double. Playing just 32 minutes on the night, he recorded 21 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists.

The Cavaliers have been inconsistent during the Summer League, with an underwhelming 1-3 record so far. Tyson has been one of the few bright spots on the roster. The team will once again turn to the young man as they look to overcome the Indiana Pacers in their final Summer League matchup on Saturday.

Jaylon Tyson's outstanding junior year with the California Golden Bears had NBA scouts talking prior to the draft. He finished his final collegiate season averaging 19.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists and was named to the All-Pac-12 First Team. Those numbers caught the attention of the Cavaliers, who drafted the Texas native with the 20th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

So far, Tyson is averaging 13.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He is shooting 51.2 percent from the field and 88.9 percent from the free throw line. Those are impressive numbers considering he is still just 21 years old.

Jaylon Tyson is quietly making a name for himself in Las Vegas. If he continues to perform the way he has in the Summer League, we should see him break into the Cavaliers NBA roster sooner than expected.
