Is Josh Giddey playing tonight against Boston Celtics? Latest on Bulls point guard's availability (Dec. 19)
Josh Giddey’s availability for the Chicago Bulls’ game against the Boston Celtics was uncertain for Thursday's game. The Australian guard is ruled out from match after being listed as "questionable" on the injury report due to a right ankle injury sustained during the Bulls’ 122-121 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Monday.
Giddey did not take part in the team’s practice on Wednesday, but head coach Billy Donovan provided an encouraging update on his recovery progress.
“He’s (Josh Giddey) probably doubtful right now,” Donovan said. “I think he’ll probably be listed that way, but it’s a lot better than we originally thought.
“To be honest with you, the way he went down and on the ankle that he had some issues with this summer, it looked worse. But he’s going to have to treat it and just see how he progresses and how long it takes."
Josh Giddey was helped off the court and taken to the locker room after rolling his ankle in pain during the game against the Raptors. Initially, the injury appeared serious, but head coach Billy Donovan’s recent comments have provided relief to Bulls fans, indicating that Giddey avoided a significant setback.
Before his exit, the former OKC Thunder guard was making an impact on both ends of the court. In 24 minutes, Giddey recorded 11 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, two steals and one block. He shot an efficient 3 of 4 from the field, including 1 of 2 from beyond the arc.
