Is Lebron James on steroids? Exploring rumors about 4xNBA champion for using PEDs to enhance his performance

LeBron James has been applauded for his longevity throughout his career, but recent rumors are trying to discredit this. The LA Lakers star has recently been accused of using steroids throughout his NBA career.

During a recent appearance on the "Flagrant" podcast, Chael Sonnen accused LeBron James of using performance enhancing drugs. He even went as far to say that they obtain PEDs from the same person.

"If the world understood what LeBron did. Like other basketball players will hear what LeBron does and go 'that doesn't matter.' If you knew what these performance enhancers did, then you would know why it does matter.
We have the same drug guy. I know exactly what he's doing."

While Sonnen made these sharp accusations, he offered no actual proof of LeBron using PEDs. Throughout his 20 years in the NBA, the LA Lakers star has never tested positive for performance enhancers.

Others have also been suspicious of LeBron James and his physical health

Seeing that he is doing something that hasn't been done before, it's not shocking to see stuff like this emerge. In his age 38 season, LeBron James is still playing the game at an extremely high level. This year, he is posting averages of 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists.

Outside of injuries, we haven't really seen LeBron's game decline when he's on the court. For years now, everyone around the NBA have been waiting to see when the LA Lakers star is going to start losing a step.

Part of why LeBron has been able to play the game for so long is because he invests a great deal into his body. That being said, Chael Sonnen isn't the first person to raise an eyebrow about what he's actually doing.

During a segment on "First Take" years ago, Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman got into a discussion about LeBron. While Kellerman praised him for his slow decline, Stephen A. made an interesting remark.

When asked why LeBron's game has declined so slow, Stephen A. said it "raises an eyebrow" that he gets better while the players around him get worse. He didn't come right out and accuse him of steroids, but his tone suggests he thinks something doesn't add up.

Some might feel LeBron is using performance enhancers, but without hard evidence it's just a claim. For now, the future Hall of Famer should be seen as an incredible athlete who puts a major emphasis on his body.
