Is Lonzo Ball playing tonight against Celtics? Latest on Bulls guard’s status for Emirates NBA Cup game (Nov. 29)

Lonzo Ball continues to be a staple in the Chicago Bulls’ injury report. The backup point guard is ruled probable due to a right wrist sprain, an injury that caused him to miss 15 games this season. The Bulls will give an update about his status for the Emirates NBA Cup game against the Boston Celtics hours before the tip-off on Friday.

Zo returned to play on Wednesday against the Orlando Magic. He played 15 minutes and finished with six points, four steals, three assists and two blocks. The veteran guard is a solid boost off the bench, which will be needed in a crucial matchup against the Celtics in the in-season tournament.

What happened to Lonzo Ball?

Lonzo Ball played against the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 28. Two nights later, the Chicago Bulls ruled him questionable due to right wrist soreness before the game against the Orlando Magic. The team announced a few hours before the Bulls-Magic tip-off that Zo suffered a right wrist sprain.

The No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA draft wore a splint for weeks to deal with the injury. On Nov. 11, the Bulls announced that team doctors removed the brace from his wrist. Ball, though, was prohibited from basketball activity until further evaluation.

On Nov. 24, the Chicago Bulls upgraded him to doubtful, but he remained out versus the Memphis Grizzlies. He was questionable ahead of the Orlando Magic game on Wednesday but suited up for the team.

The Bulls have been extremely careful with the oft-injured former LA Lakers star. They will give the clearance to play or hold him out after thoroughly checking him hours before the game on Friday.

The Chicago Bulls are 1-3 with Lonzo Ball

Lonzo Ball has given the Chicago Bulls a solid lift from the bench in limited minutes. Although he has been playing well, the team’s record has not reflected his performances. Chicago is 1-3 when he plays.

The Bulls’ only win with Ball available happened on Oct. 28, the day he injured his wrist. They beat the Memphis Grizzlies 126-123. Ball contributed six points, six assists, one rebound and one block.

Chicago will be hoping for a win against the Boston Celtics in the Emirates NBA Cup if Ball plays.
