Is Paul George playing tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies? Exploring the 76ers forward’s status (Nov. 2)
Paul George will not be playing against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night. The Philadelphia 76ers will be hosting the Memphis Grizzlies at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday night in their fifth matchup of the season.
Unfortunately, PG-13 will not be gracing the fans and the hardwood with his on-court abilities. As per Kyle Neubeck from PHLY Sports, George is out with a knee injury and is ruled out from participation.
In addition to PG's absence, the 76ers will also be missing their All-Star big man, Joel Embiid. The 2022-23 MVP is also out with a knee injury, however, as per Neubeck's report both Embiid and George were part of Friday's 5 on 5 scrimmages in practice.
Paul George made a blockbuster move last offseason when he left the LA Clippers and moved to Philly. The arrival of PG opened up great possibilities for the 76ers squad. The combination of him, Embiid and Tyrese Maxey is theoretically a great one.
However, George has yet to make his debut in a Philly jersey in the regular season. He has not been featured in the first four games of the season and will also be missing the fifth. Embiid has also not played a single game in the new season. In their absence, Tyrese Maxey is holding down the fort for the squad.
So far, the Philadelphia 76ers have a 1-3 record in their first four games of the 2024-25 NBA season.
Paul George expresses his frustrations and provides update on his injury
During the preseason win against the Atlanta Hawks on Oct. 14, Paul George suffered a bone bruise in his knee that has prevented him from making his regular-season debut in a 76ers jersey. During practice on Friday, George talked with the press and gave an update on his health condition.
"I feel pretty strong and I’m at a good place right now. It’s been a great process getting to this point," George said.
Furthermore, he expressed his frustrations about not being able to play with his new teammates.
"It has been completely frustrating, just from wanting to finally get started with these guys and using these early games to kind of build and find chemistry," George said.
He clarified that he has been engaged with the squad from the sidelines whether it be in games or practice. Paul George had a good run with the LA Clippers last season, averaging 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
