Is Trae Young playing tonight? Exploring Hawks All-Star guard's availability vs Heat | 2024 NBA preseason

Trae Young is available to play against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. The Atlanta Hawks All-Star guard is not listed in the injury report for the Hawks and is expected to lace up his shoes to make an appearance at the Kaseya Center.

This will be the Hawks' third preseason game before they begin their regular season on Oct. 23. So far, the Hawks' preseason has been even with one win and one loss. They secured a close win in their opening preseason matchup against the Indiana Pacers (131-130).

On the other hand, they suffered a blowout loss against the Philadelphia 76ers in their second preseason game (104-89). In the game against the Pacers, Trae Young had 17 points and six assists, while in the game against the 76ers, he had 10 points, nine assists and three rebounds.

Even though the Hawks did not have the greatest run last season, Trae Young had a fruitful individual season end. He averaged 25.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 10.8 assists per game.

With DeJounte Murray traded away to the New Orleans Pelicans, Young has the time to shine and take full authority as the locker room leader.

Trae Young expresses his gratitude to Hall of Famer Vince Carter for his message

Trae Young expressed his gratitude to eight-time NBA All-Star Vince Carter. On Oct. 13, Carter was nominated into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and during his induction speech, the former NBA star thanked the Atlanta Hawks, Young and the teammates he played the game with.

Young talked to Jameelah Johnson from the Atlanta Hawks and expressed his gratitude for having a chance to play with Carter on the same team.

"I almost cried,” Young said. “It was an unreal feeling just watching Vince getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. I hate I couldn't be there. I know he had a lot of teammates. I remember him saying he had 261 teammates that he played with over his career, and I'm just fortunate enough to be one of them."

Carter's last bucket in the league was a three-pointer against the New York Knicks. Young also talked about his feelings about being the person to assist an NBA Icon with his last bucket.

"Even when I'm 40, 50 years old, I'm going tell people I gave Vince his last bucket. And just that assist, that's one of my most memorable assists that I've ever had," he added.

Vince Carter spent his last season in the NBA as a Hawks player. He signed with the franchise in 2018 and guided the youngsters, including Trae Young as the veteran on the squad.
