Is Trae Young playing tonight against the Phoenix Suns? Latest injury update on Hawks star (Jan. 14)

Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young could is available to play against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. The Atlanta guard was earlier listed as questionable due to an illness and could miss his first contest in over nine games as the Hawks host the Arizona team at State Farm Arena.

The former Oklahoma Sooners guard has been relatively free from injury this season, missing only two of his team's 38 games.

However, Young has been dealing with Achilles tendinitis in his right foot, which caused him to sit out the game against the Memphis Grizzlies on December 22. He returned in the following game and has since started all nine of his games, leading the league in assists with an average of 12.1 per game.

Although his absence from the recent game is attributed to illness, postponing their matchup against the Houston Rockets could allow him to return if this one-game break provides sufficient rest.

However, with the return of Trae Young, the Hawks will be without four other players for their matchup against the Suns. Kobe Bufkin, Larry Nance Jr., Cody Zeller and Jalen Johnson.

Trae Young's 21 points were not enough to seal the deal in Arizona

Although he is listed as questionable for his team's upcoming game against the Suns, Trae Young's last appearance in the league was against the Suns on Thursday. The Hawks traveled to Footprint Center on Jan. 9 for what was the first meeting between the two teams this season.

Young was on the court for 34 minutes and managed to record 21 points and seven assists while shooting 40% from within the arch. However, this contribution was not enough on the night as the Phoenix Suns trounced the Georgia team 123-115.

Bradley Beal's 25 points from the bench were enough to secure the win for the Arizona franchise as they took their record for this season to 17 wins and 19 losses. On the other hand, the defeat meant the Hawks' record for the season stands at 19-19 which they will hope to improve in the reverse fixture on Tuesday.

The Hawks may be without Trae Young due to an illness, so they could look to Dyson Daniels for an offensive performance. The 21-year-old has started 34 games this season and will need to work effectively with Clint Capela and De'Andre Hunter if they hope to defeat the Suns on Tuesday.
