Is Trayce Jackson-Davis playing tonight? A look at Warriors forward's status for Summer League game vs Thunder
Golden State Warriors forward Trayce Jackson-Davis has made his mark in the 2024 NBA Summer League, so much so that it's unlikely the second-year pro will suit up Friday in their next matchup against the OKC Thunder.
Jackson-Davis didn't play in their last game, a 96-85 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers that increased their record to 3-0 in the NBA Las Vegas Summer League. The team was led instead by Daeqwon Plowden, who finished with 16 points.
In their prior game against the Chicago Bulls, Jackson-Davis finished with 17 points on 4-of-7 shooting, draining 9-13 shots from the free-throw line in a game where the Bulls couldn't keep their hands off him. He also grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out three assists in the 92-82 win.
He was just as efficient in their first game, scoring 10 points with seven rebounds in just 21 minutes of a 90-73 win over the Phoenix Suns.
This year's summer league team is performing much differently than last year's, which went 0-5 in Las Vegas in Jackson-Davis' first taste of NBA action. The forward was still stellar in their games, and in their last 2023 matchup against the Toronto Raptors, he scored 18 points with 10 rebounds.
The Indiana product appeared in 68 games for the Warriors in his rookie season. He averaged 7.9 points and 5.0 rebounds, while shooting a strong 70.2% from the floor. His numbers improved toward the end of the year, scoring over 10 points per game while playing a prominent role off the bench in the final 10 games of the season.
The 6-foot-9, No. 57 overall pick from 2023 has surprised the NBA with his motor and athleticism on the floor. He delivered one of the most impressive blocks of the season last year, flying to the rim for a poster slam over the tallest player in the league, 7-foot-5 San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama.
Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski unlikely to play vs. Thunder
Along with Jackson-Davis, Warriors second-year guard Brandin Podziemski is unlikely to play Friday after two strong performances of his own this summer.
Podziemski finished with 16 points, six assists and seven rebounds against the Suns, and then followed that up with a monstrous 21-point, 12-rebound, 7-assist performance against the Bulls. He shot 4-8 from 3 in that matchup.
The team will look to improve to 4-0 and book a spot in the playoffs, which includes just four teams.
