Hartenstein joined the OKC Thunder during free agency, while Randle was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the deal for Karl-Anthony Towns.
Kendra Randle, wife of Minnesota’s new power forward, posted photos on Instagram from the Timberwolves' home opener at Target Center. She sported a leopard print top, along with a dazzling jacket, boots and bag.
Kourtney Kellar, Hartenstein's wife, commented on the post with a simple yet enthusiastic compliment:
“Obsessed 😍😍😍😍”
Isaiah Hartenstein and Julius Randle discuss switching teams in the offseason
The former Knicks frontcourt players moved to the Western Conference this season. Hartenstein signed with the Thunder, last season’s top seed in the West, while Randle joined the Timberwolves, who made it to the conference finals.
Reflecting on his decision to leave the Knicks for OKC, Hartenstein said (per Oklahoman.com):
“From afar, I always saw how the culture was, especially since they've been in OKC, how they established a culture. OKC was always a team I was really excited about even watching when I was over in Germany when it was KD, Russ and James.”
Julius Randle, after being traded to the Timberwolves following five seasons with the Knicks, spoke about the emotional experience of leaving New York:
"It was a lot of emotion. You spend a certain amount of time in a place, New York, going there five years ago, and having a goal in mind to accomplish a lot of great things and, a lot of blood, sweat and tears put into that organization uniform," he said.
Despite the initial shock, Randle quickly grew excited about his new opportunity with the Timberwolves, where he'll play alongside his former Knicks teammate Donte DiVincenzo, as well as Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid. He added:
"Initially, it's always going to be a shock but for me afterwards, I woke up the next morning, and I was just really, really excited. It was a breath of fresh air. I'm excited to bring everything that I learned here over the past five years and, help these guys out. ... I want to help win a championship. So that's the only thing that matters."
While Isaiah Hartenstein has yet to play for the 3-0 Thunder due to a hand injury, Julius Randle has already appeared in three games, contributing to the Timberwolves' 2-1 record.
