Ja Morant fires warning shot at rivals ahead of injury comeback: "How soon they forget"

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is working to recover his best form for the 2024-25 NBA season. After enduring a 25-game suspension and a season-ending injury shortly after his return, Morant joined a long list of Grizzlies players out with injuries.

The new season is on the horizon and many players have already been working to return to the court in the best possible shape. Morant isn't any different and he made sure to warn everybody about his comeback. With a video that starts with the words 'How soon they forget..." Morant showed what he's been up to during the offseason.

Morant can be seen doing lateral push drills before working on his shot, going for mid-ranges, layups, shooting over opponents and even completing lobs off the board. The 2022 Most Improved Player hit the weight room and ran on a soccer field, showing that he's doing a bit of everything this offseason.

The Memphis Grizzlies went from clinching the No. 2 seed in the West in 2022-23 to ranking 13th last season (27-55). The team endured numerous injuries to their players, but the season didn't have the best start as Ja Morant's gun controversies caused him to miss the first 25 games.

Ja Morant, Grizzlies have a lot to win next season

The Western Conference isn't the same since the Grizzlies almost won it in 2023. The Denver Nuggets weren't even the best team in it last season and more teams have risen.

Morant only played nine games last season, averaging 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game while shooting 47.1% from the field and 81.3% from the free-throw line. In those nine games, Morant completely changed the Grizzlies, winning six and losing three, including wins over the Indiana Pacers and LA Lakers.

If anything, that short span confirmed that Ja Morant is just starting and his best days are still in front of him. They landed Marcus Smart and Derrick Rose, but none of the veterans could make an impact similar to Morant's.

Perhaps all the controversy surrounding him in the last year made some people forget about him and his team's potential, but Morant remains a serious threat in the West and the entire NBA.
