Ja Morant hints at making Ja 1 PE sneakers for 10.1 ppg scorer for rocking signature shoe more than any other player

Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies has one of the most popular signature shoes in the NBA. It's not just popular among fans but also fellow players like TJ McConnell of the Indiana Pacers. Morant teased a possible Ja 1 player edition (PE) specifically made for McConnell.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Grizzlies superstar hinted at possibly giving McConnell his own Ja 1 PE. The Pacers guard has been using Morant's shoes since last season, which was the most for any player in the NBA.

"PE 📦 ," Morant tweeted.

The Indiana Pacers visited the FedEx Forum on Monday night to face off against the Memphis Grizzlies. Before the game, TJ McConnell had approached Ja Morant to show the shoes he was wearing.

McConnell explained to Damichael Cole of the Memphis Commercial Appeal why he likes wearing Ja 1s even though Ja 2 released in September. He was a sneaker free agent and used to wear Kyrie Irving's Nike shoes before trying out Morant's signature shoe last season.

"I tried them out and instantly fell in love with them," McConnell said. "Honestly, like I love shoes that are comfortable and they support your feet. When I put them on, they were extremely comfortable, and I just like the way they look. It's a great shoe, and I love playing in them."

McConnell, who averages 10.1 points per game this season, also told Cole that he's currently rotating six pairs of Ja 1s when playing and will try Ja 2s once all six get worn out. He has nothing but kind words for Morant for being good to him whenever they cross paths.

"I've been in this league and I'm a fan of great basketball," McConnell said. "He's a really great player. Every time I cross paths with him, he's been good to me. It's fitting that he has a great shoe."

Apart from McConnell, other players who have been rocking Ja 1s since last season are Nic Claxton and Jaden Ivey. But unlike McConnell, Claxton used to play AAU ball with Morant and Ivey's mom Niele used to be an assistant coach for the Grizzlies.

In the same article by Damichael Cole for the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Ja Morant appreciated the love from TJ McConnell. Morant, who has had a rough two years off the court, is thankful for the support from his fellow players.

"It's love there, always," Morant said. "That's big time. Definitely a blessing. I appreciate him for continuing to rock them. Like I said, it's love there, man."

Morant took over as Nike's newest poster boy in the NBA after Kyrie Irving was removed by the company in late 2022.
