Ja Morant hyped about South Carolina athletes appreciation post ft. A'ja Wilson and Zion Williamson

Ja Morant gave his seal of approval to Slam's recent post shouting out South Carolina basketball. Morant, who was born in Dalzell and attended Crestwood High School in South Carolina, was hyped to see his home state getting some appreciation from one of basketball's most popular media outlets.

On Monday, Slam posted images of Morant (Memphis Grizzlies), A'ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces) and Zion Williamson (New Orleans Pelicans) on their X account with the caption:

"South Carolina does it different"

All-Star guard Ja Morant took to social media soon after to repost the message and give his approval to the post.

"Stamp dat !!" Morant wrote.

South Carolina has become a hotbed for basketball talent, with some of the NBA and WNBA's top players emerging from the state.

Morant, 25, and Williamson, 24, are two of the most exciting young talents in the NBA. Both players have been named to the All-Star Game more than once in their young careers, with Morant named the league's Rookie of the Year in 2020.

A'ja Wilson is considered the most dominant player in the WNBA and is in line to win her third MVP award in five seasons. Wilson was born in Colombia and also spent four seasons with the University of South Carolina, where she won the NCAA National Championship in 2017.

Kevin Durant, Khris Middleton, Jermaine O'Neal are some of the other high-profile NBA stars to emerge from "The Palmetto State."

The 2019 NBA Draft class was littered with talented prospects. However, as the draft date approached, it became clear that there were two players that were a cut above the rest.

The Pelicans held the first pick and opted for Duke forward Zion Williamson. Ja Morant, who attended Murray State University, was the next player off the board, with the Grizzlies snagging him up with the second pick.

Willamson has struggled with injuries over the last five seasons, appearing in just 184. When healthy, however, he is considered a potent offensive threat.

Willamson is a two-time All-Star and was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2020.

Morant made an instant impact in his first season in the league, averaging 17.8 points and going on to win the ROY award. Over the last five seasons, he is averaging 22.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.4 assists.

Morant has been selected to the All-Star team twice and was named the NBA Most Improved Player in 2022.
