Ja Morant reacts to his two 360 layup highlight surpassing Victor Wembanyama's viral dunk video as NBA’s most-watched clip
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has gone viral and for the right reason. Morant's 360 layups against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday surpassed Victor Wembanyama's dunk over Derrick White on Dec. 31, 2023. Wemby's dunk garnered 153 million views across NBA social media platforms.
The Grizzlies failed to secure the win over the Nets in a 106-104 loss. However, something good still came out of it as Morant pulled two acrobatic layups during the game. The star point guard went around defenders while in the air and made two tough shots.
The move was posted online and immediately went viral. According to NBA Communications on X (formerly Twitter), the clip of his two layups has gathered 161 million views (and counting). Morant's viral clip is now the most-viewed video, taking down the viral dunk of the San Antonio Spurs star.
"Ja Morant's two acrobatic layups from last night's Grizzlies-Nets game have generated 161M video views (and counting) across NBA social media. Each play stands out as the most-viewed video on NBA platforms this season," the NBA tweeted.
Morant used an emoji when his viral layups reached the top spot.
Morant finished Monday with 25 points, five rebounds and nine assists. Zach Edey, the team's rookie center, scored 25 points as well and had 12 rebounds. However, that wasn't enough to lead Memphis to a win.
The Grizzlies' next game is against the LA Clippers on Wednesday.

Ja Morant is gradually redeeming the Grizzlies following a subpar finish last season
Last season, the Grizzlies didn't make it to the postseason and finished 13th in the Western Conference with a 27-55 record as the team suffered plenty of injuries and absences from their stars.
Ja Morant missed the first 25 games as he served a suspension (without pay) issued by the league for holding a handgun during a livestream video on Instagram. Then, he only participated in nine games due to a shoulder injury that ended his season.
Desmond Bane, his backcourt partner, also missed a lot of games because of injuries, participating in only 42 games. And experienced guard Marcus Smart only appeared in 20 games.
For most of the previous season, the Grizzlies had no other talent available but Jaren Jackson Jr.
Morant has participated in seven games this season. The great guard is maximizing his time. The averages for the two-time All-Star are 20.7 points, 9.7 assists and 5.1 rebounds. Additionally, he recorded his first triple-double of the year.
