Jacque Vaughn shouts out Brooklyn Nets' bench after 66-point contribution against Lakers

Brooklyn Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn had nothing but praise for his team following their win against the LA Lakers. The Nets' bench played a major role in securing the victory and after the game, Vaughn highlighted the beauty of team basketball.

Playing at the Barclays Center, the Nets hosted the Purple and Gold for their final meeting of the 2022-23 season. Considering that the Lakers recorded a win against Brooklyn in their previous meeting, the Nets were gunning for revenge.

Both teams were significantly shorthanded. The Lakers were without LeBron James and Anthony Davis, while the Nets were without Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons.

As such, it was up to the other players to step up and that's exactly what Brooklyn's bench did. They recorded an astounding 66 points on the night to help the team secure a win.

Speaking about his team's performance after the game, Vaughn said:

"It's why I love team basketball. It's doing your part not knowing when you're going to be called on. We've been talking about that, trying to normalize that with our group and next thing you know you're called upon. Starters get off to a good start and then we get 66 points from the bench. So pretty impressive guys. Ready to play and do their part."

Can Brooklyn Nets' bench continue to deliver?

The Brooklyn Nets certainly put on a show for the home crowd on Monday night. Thanks to an electrifying second-half performance, the Nets managed to record a huge 121-104 win against the LA Lakers.

Although Brooklyn enjoyed a huge lead at the end of the first half, the Lakers managed to turn things around in the third quarter. However, the Nets came up with an incredible run of their own to flip the script in the fourth.

Kyrie Irving led the charge with 26 points on the night. However, it was Brooklyn's bench that emerged as the heroes of the night. Cam Thomas and Patty Mills combined for 42 points, paving the way for the win.

With Kevin Durant out of the lineup, Brooklyn will need to see more performances of this sort from their bench to ensure a solid position moving forward. They are currently fourth in the East.
