Jalen Brunson blocks comments on wedding anniversary post after Knicks fans’ comical proposals
Jalen Brunson and his wife Ali Marks celebrated their first wedding anniversary on July 29. In an Instagram photo posted by Brunson, they reminisced about their special day with a black-and-white throwback picture from their wedding last year. The post showed some snaps of their nuptial, where they both stood out among the all-black themed suits and dresses worn by their guests.
Underneath the post, New York Knicks fans flooded the comment section with hilarious quips, expressing their admiration for Jalen Brunson. After a few hours of jokes, The Knicks’ superstar blocked the post's comment section.
Most of the quips included comparisons of themselves to his wife, who was seen wearing a white dress that matched Brunson's tuxedo for the black-and-white-themed wedding.
Ali Marks met Brunson when they were still in high school and they have been dating since October 2013. Brunson proposed to Marks in September 2022 with flowers and candles shaped like hearts on their high school’s basketball court. Marks also posted about their wedding anniversary along with a sweet message to her now-loving husband:
"Feeling so loved & blessed today, tomorrow, forever and always 🤍 the best day of my life ~ happy anniversary @jalenbrunson1"
Marks is a physical therapist with a PhD from Northwestern University, which she obtained in 2021. The two married on July 29, 2023, in a lavish but hastily assembled ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton in Chicago to accommodate Brunson’s Team USA commitments for the FIBA World Cup.
Jalen Brunson takes massive pay cut for New York Knicks
Jalen Brunson captivated the New York Knicks fans after leading the team to a second-round appearance in the past NBA playoffs. He helped the team by signing a four-year, $156.5 million contract, instead of the five-year, $269 million deal he was eligible for. Brunson averaged 28.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 6.7 assists in 35 minutes per game, and was named to the All-NBA Second Team, which qualified him for such a max contract.
By signing the shorter contract, Brunson will be receiving about $37 million less over the next three years. This helped the Knicks to maintain salary cap flexibility and retain their core players, including OG Anunoby, and Brunson’s close friends Donte DiVincenzo, Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges, who the team traded for in the offseason.
