James Harden gets brutally honest about his NBA 2K25 rating slump, marking its lowest since 2K14

Fans got a sneak peek of James Harden's player rating for NBA 2K25 recently and were surprised by how low it was. In last year's NBA 2K edition, Harden was given an 89 overall after he had an All-Star season with the Philadelphia 76ers. However, things have changed for the star shooting guard this year.

The LA Clippers star has been given an 84 overall. This marks the first time Harden has been given an overall rating lower than 85 at the start of an NBA 2K game since he became an All-Star. Back in the NBA 2K14 game, they gave Harden an 88 overall as he was one of the game's rising stars at that time.

Journalist Jason Bristol got a chance to catch up with the veteran star and brought up the topic of his player rating in the game.

However, the former Arizona State star wasn't worried about the initial rating that was given to him.

"Nah, I don't... Imma show 'em on the court. I don't really care about my rating," Harden said about his player rating.

The game tends to update player ratings throughout the season. Depending on how a player performs, NBA 2K rates them accordingly.

One example can be seen in San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama. He started the season as an 84 overall and improved until the end of the season and finished with an 89 overall.

For Harden, his rating dropped last season from an 89 overall to 86.

There's still a chance for Harden to prove the game developers wrong this season. As long as he stays healthy and plays consistent, strong basketball, the game might credit him and give him a higher rating.

Now that Paul George has left the team, the shooting guard has more free reign to operate and be a prime scorer again.
