Jaxson Hayes' girlfriend Casey Braxton drops plea for privacy, deletes pics, unfollows Lakers star on IG
Amid the Jaxson Hayes controversy and the NBA reopening the investigation about his old incident with ex-girlfriend Sofia Jamora in 2021, Casey Braxton had a serious petition for fans. Braxton, Hayes' current girlfriend, asked fans to respect her and her family's privacy on Instagram on Wednesday.
"Please leave and especially my family alone," she wrote.
This wasn't the only measure she applied amid all this situation. Braxton stopped following Jaxson Hayes on social media and deleted all the pictures she had with the LA Lakers center.
Last week, an old video of Jaxson Hayes' incident with Sofia Jamora made the rounds on social media. This never-before-seen footage went viral, leading to the NBA reopening the investigation into this incident.
Hayes was initially charged with 12 misdemeanors, which included destroying property, use of force and resisting a police officer, TMZ reported. Ten counts were dropped, and the player pleaded no contest to false imprisonment and resisting an officer. He ultimately got three years of probation and 450 hours of community service in June 2022.
Casey Braxton reacted to the video when it went viral, thanking people for their kind words but clarifying that she wasn't the woman in the footage.
"I appreciate the love and the kindness, but that video is NOT ME. No need to follow or dm," Braxton wrote.
Lakers coach JJ Redick had no comment on the matter.
"We're obviously aware that the investigation has been reopened and we're going to cooperate fully," Redick said, per NBA writer Jovan Buha. "But other than that, I'm not going to have another comment on that."
NBA analyst sends strong message on Jaxson Hayes' domestic violence case
Even though the Jaxson Hayes incident happened three years ago, the situation has drawn a lot of attention recently. NBA analyst Rache Demita took a strong stance, saying that the league should be radical when addressing these issues.
"NBA should have a zero tolerance policy for domestic violence like what are we doing," Demita tweeted on Sunday.
Jaxson Hayes played for the New Orleans Pelicans when the incident happened. He's been with the Lakers since 2023, but it doesn't seem like the story has come to an end.
